Armband WWII USN Shore Party (S.P.)
WW2 USN Shore Party (S.P.) brassard, this is different to Shore Patrol arm band as the Shore Party is yellow.
The "Shore Party" brassard was worn by USN sailors who had been given permission to be ashore for the purpose of work, this was usually on the docks side for the purpose of loading, unloading or controlling boats etc.
The purpose was to clearly show that you where a part of a work party and that you had a right to be ashore and that you where not loitering around.
If you had the yellow "S.P." brassard on you where not going to be bothered my the Shore Patrol (USN Police).
